Like everything else in life whether it is about starting a new job, moving into a new house and surroundings or even adopting to life in another country, it takes time to get over a broken heart. Here are my 7 tips on how to do so effectively.

1. Moving Forward

When you decided to go to another place, you tend to move forward. Before doing so, you need to get out of the place you are in right now.

The same concept applies to getting over a relationship that does not work out. If both of you cannot get along, it is time to move forward and get to know other people. By doing so, it will not hurt you so much.

Because you may never know if you will ever get to meet someone even better than your ex.

2. Let Time Heal

If you do not wish to get involved in another relationship, I can totally understand.

It is best to let time heal your mental wounds. During this period, why not do the things you originally like but never have the chance to fufil because of your commitment to relationship?

It can be cooking, drawing and even reading books on relationships that will help to prepare you better next time. By keeping yourself busy in your work and hobbies, time will pass quickly and before you know it, all your negative feelings will be gone.

3. Participating In Group Activities

2 of the best places I can think of for you to do so are community clubs and churches.

While the former may charge a certain fee for participation, the latter certainly does not.

Having a group of people who genuinely care about you will certainly be very beneficial to well-being be it physically or mentally.

At the same time, you are also opening your doors and new horizontal to get to know and make new friends.

4. Exercising

Although exercising is not exactly my favourite, I tend to do so whenever my mood is bad and down.

Nevertheless I still have to acknowledge that jogging, swimming and even aerobics can not only help to clear your mind of any stress, depression and anxiety but get you fitter and healthier as well.

5. Travelling

If you have money to invest, you will certainly want to go out on a vacation.

Vacation does not necessarily involve couples. You can either go with your family, friends or even alone.

Based on my experience, I recommend alone as spending time by yourself away from the usual surroundings will help you to organize your thoughts and help you plan better with a clearer mindset when you return home.

With that being said, here are my 5 main tips to get over a broken heart. I could have recommended counselling as the sixth but these 5 are more than enough to help you if you want to.
