Recall a time in your life when you were joyously doing something and the time just flew by. A time when you were so completely absorbed by what you were doing that nothing else mattered. An occasion when you felt passion and enthusiasm and were elated by the results.

Did that feel good or what? What were you doing?

Now recall a routine work day. One that started out the same as always, where you dealt with the same old issues, and time dragged like molasses. The tasks were just de- energizing, fatiguing and mentally draining.

The work you were doing was a repeat of the same work you’ve done a hundred times before. You probably felt like something was missing in your work or life. How did that feel to you; what were you doing?

Every person was placed on this earth with a specific unique mission and purpose. Finding that unique contribution or mission and reason for living or purpose is at times a challenging job. You start down a road and it is blocked so you turn around and take another road.

You travel a different road but encounter bumps and major roughness to the point that your vehicle breaks down – so you start over. You travel down another road and fear creeps in and dissuades you from continuing further. You pick yet a third new road and the world brightens, the surface is smooth, you feel uplifted, and nothing can stop you.

In a similar way, we know that there is a special contribution we must make to the world but what is that contribution? Here are a few ideas that may help you discover that passion for your work and life:

• Nurture the intention to find your passion
• Become acutely aware of how you feel when you are working and living
• Be open to the endless possibilities that are available to you
• Travel new roads - try new work, tasks, behaviors, and activities
• Notice how you feel while engaging in these new activities
• Persevere in your search for finding your passion – know that you will find it
• Embrace it fully when you find your passion
• Plan and transition into working and living in your mission, purpose, and passion
• Thoroughly enjoy the feelings of joyful work and living

Want to live a wonderful and joyful life filled with meaning and satisfaction? Then don’t accept the status quo of normal, routine, and regular life.

Follow the steps above, break out of the mold, and find your unique mission, purpose, and passion in what you do and how you live. Work and life will become seamless and filled with great satisfaction, positive motivation, joy, and happiness. What will you do?
