Carbon dioxide (CO2) in our atmosphere has reached alarming levels and something must be done immediately to regain balance. We can argue over the causes and consequences of this imbalance and what to call it, or we can make better use of our energy and work together to clean it up.

The Green Team, a not-for-profit environmental organization based in Plano, Texas, has launched a national campaign that makes cleaning up our atmosphere a fundraising opportunity for your school, church, or other group.

With your help, The Green Team is planting millions of Empress Splendor™ trees and educating homeowners about a practical and economical solar power solution for their home.

Why solar power?

Because electricity production is one of the largest producers of CO2 greenhouse gases and solar power is a clean, unlimited energy source.

Why Empress Splendor trees?

Empress Splendor trees convert 6 times more CO2 to oxygen than other trees. As retired forestry specialist for the University of Maryland, Dr. John F. Kundt, is quoted in the American Horticulturist (Vol. 71, No. 6, June 1992) as saying “The Empress Splendor™ is the most valuable single tree we have in the United States.”

Besides converting massive amounts of CO2, the Empress Splendor is the world’s fastest growing hardwood. They’re hardy from sea level to 6,500 feet and above and from -10F to 120F, and they grow where other trees won’t. Unlike some Empress trees, the Empress Splendor™ is non-invasive, excellent for bioremediation, increases soil fertility, and much, much more.

Prized for its exceptional lumber, the Empress Splendor is perfect for reforestation projects. With its ability to regrow 5 to 7 times from the same roots, it has an expected timber yield of 30,000 commercial board feet per acre every 7 to 10 years.

Individuals, organizations, and cities are encouraged to sponsor Empress Splendor trees. “Sponsoring a tree” means paying for a tree, including shipping, that will be planted by an organization committed to positively impacting our environment.

In order to plant millions of these wonderful trees, the Green Team created the Trees Please™ Project, a fund raising opportunity for those who help us make it happen. Groups can help clean up the environment and fund their favorite cause at the same time. Groups may choose to only collect sponsorships or they may also choose to plant sponsored trees.

The mayors of the 600+ cities who have signed the Climate Protection Agreement are being invited to plant the Green Team’s Empress Splendor trees as part of their efforts to reduce greenhouse gases.

Any organization willing to plant (or distribute for planting) 400 or more trees can register to receive the sponsored trees (free of charge) by simply adding their information to our list. Tree sponsors can designate their sponsored trees to any participating organization on the list.

City-wide tree planting events build community and empower individuals seeking to add their energy to the clean up efforts. With a little friendly competition between organizations we can plant A LOT more trees! Perhaps your group will get involved with or create your own tree distribution and planting event.

Homeowners across America can prevent millions of tons of CO2 from being added to the atmosphere and save money at the same time. The average American home puts 8,600lbs of CO2 into the atmosphere every year! Learn how simple it is to pay even less for clean, renewable electricity than for the life depleting alternatives.

Restoring balance to the carbon dioxide in our atmosphere is a massive undertaking. It will take the combined efforts of everyone to both prevent more CO2 from being added and clean up the CO2 already polluting our ecosystem. The Green Team offers a practical way for everyone to get involved and get the job done.
