As the millennial generation is growing older, we see more and more pictures on Facebook of people getting engaged, getting married and having babies.
The trouble is internet generation it has become more and more competitive to raise a child in Auckland. Most of us are Googling parenting tips on things that we should be doing before we become parents. Even thinking of pre-schools (the forms of which should be filled up before you even conceive!)

We decided to put up a blog about things you should be doing I'm about to become a parent. Why? Because there are a lot of complicated lists of things to be done all over the internet, and they're all different! How does one figure out what to do and what not to do? Earlier, we had our parents tell us what they did and what worked out, also what they did and did not work out. But now, we got everyone else’s parents doing it for us!

Here are a few pointers that might help get you through to this freakishly exciting phase of your life:

Prepare for the new addition to your family

This could mean getting yourself a better apartment or getting your apartment renovated. A lot of people also decide to buy better cars for themselves. Personally, I decided to sell my car for cash to a car buyer in Auckland. With a lot of expenses lined up for our family, we needed some extra cash which we got from A2Z Car Removal that pays up to $9999 for all types of vehicles. I didn't have to put in any effort as the car was picked up for free, with the cash paid instantly.
You might also want to buy a better car for your family since it is about to get bigger. Most parents find it more convenient to have an SUV, or a minivan due to the space available.

Think of what you would not want to introduce to your child

Once you've decided to be a parent, there are a lot of things in your life that you might want to reconsider. For example, a lot of people begin to opt for vegetarianism or veganism before they have a child because they do not want the child to be introduced to meat. There is also a chance might want your child to be brought up in a certain way, and there is nothing wrong with that. Only that you should make the shift to a lifestyle by taking one step at a time. For example, moving to the suburbs from the city for a better family-like environment for your children.

Take a few classes, they help

You might want to think of pregnancy as a phase in life like college. You need a little bit of information and a little bit of education to get through, but you might need to go for class if you want a good grade. Good for us, there are classes now that help you understand a lot of things that only a professional can tell you about. It is usually a good idea for both partners to take a class, but it is recommended by experts for at least one of the two partners to take a child birthing class in the 6th or 7th month.

Meet other parents, and make a few new friends

If you are going to be parents for the first time in your life, then you might want to get in touch with somebody who has done it before. As much as we agree about your parents being a great influence on you, remember that they did it 20-30 years ago when things are very different. Therefore, you should be connecting with someone who was in a similar situation as you a year back. Also, you might want to make friends with somebody to go on play dates with!

Try to keep your calm

It's obvious that you are worried and are trying to do everything in your power be the best parent there ever was. But you need to keep in mind that parenting is a difficult task especially when it's your first time. You might have a few nights in a few days when you think you can't do it but that's every person in the history of parenting. So, when nothing goes well, remember that there is always a new day to make things work.
And there's always the internet to help you figure it out how!
