I wanted to find out whether it was really bad to have high cholesterol. If you go to the “established” medical community they will say your cholesterol should be below 200. Below are the ranges that are suggested by many doctors:

A total cholesterol level of less than 200 mg/dL (5.17 mmol/L) is normal.
A total cholesterol level of 200 to 239 mg/dL (5.17 to 6.18 mmol/L) is borderline high.
A total cholesterol level greater than or equal to 240 mg/dL (6.21 mmol/L) is high.
I have even seen in some articles that some doctors are now prescribing statins to people with a cholesterol levels as low as 181.

I decide to do some research for myself and found some surprising answers. For one cholesterol is NOT the Evil people make it out to be.

Here are a few interesting facts about cholesterol (this source is (Cholesterol-and-Health.org.uk)

*Cholesterol is made by your body in quantities many times greater than the amount that you can eat.
*If you eat less cholesterol in your diet, your body merely compensates by making more
*If you eat more cholesterol, your body doesn’t need to make as much, which saves it a lot of work
*Low levels of cholesterol in the blood is found to cause many more illnesses and deaths than high levels.
*A quarter of all the cholesterol we have in our bodies is in our brains. It is so important that the brain has its own supply.
*There are more heart attacks in people with low cholesterol levels that there are in those with higher blood levels.
People with high cholesterol levels live longer than those with low levels.
*Although most heart attacks occur after the age of 65, there is no relation with cholesterol levels and heart attacks at these ages.
*High cholesterol is not a risk factor for heart disease in women at any age. Indeed the total death rate tends to go down across the entire age range.
*Cholesterol is found only in animals; there is none in plants. This compound is one of the distinguishing characteristics between plant and animal life forms.
*Cholesterol is vital for human health and human life itself.
*The liver’s most important function is to make cholesterol. However, it so important to our bodies that every body cell can manufcture it.
*Surprising facts, at least to me. Yet we are told, constantly, by mainstream media and the medical community that high cholesterol is BAD for you; even though there are many studies out there that state there is no relation between high cholesterol and someone having a heart attack.

We observe that more and more people are being put on statin drugs. There are many learned scientist that are recognizing that these statin drugs are harmful. We are also told to reduce their fat intake and even cut out or at least reduce our meat consumption. Yet studies show that these changes do not reduce heart disease.

Coronary Heart Disease is the leading cause of death in the US. In 2010, heart disease cost the United States $316.4 billion. This total includes the cost of health care services, medications, and lost productivity. This statistic is not changing. Wouldn’t it be logical that perhaps the established medical community (ie. Big Pharma, Hospitals, Insurance Companies, etc.) are barking up the wrong tree?

From the research I have done I am convinced that cholesterol is not the culprit.

Now a good question is, “If it’s not cholesterol that is causing heart disease then what is it?”. As usual, I would advise you do your own research on this. But you will find that lack of Vitamin C and not getting enough of the RIGHT fats in our body are major contributors to the high incidence of heart disease.

There are many other health benefits to having higher cholesterol. A few are listed below.

Having higher cholesterol:

*makes our cells waterproof
*is used for cellular repair
*forms bile salts which are necessary for the digestion of fat
*is a precursor (a substance from which another substance is made) for vitamin D (in other words, without cholesterol, the body could not make vitamin D)
*is an antioxidant
*is necessary for proper neurological function
*is a precursor for all hormones produced in the adrenal cortex

Cholesterol helps with maintaining the body’s functions. Having having less cholesterol can impede many of the processes our bodies need to do. Statin drugs cause the liver to make less cholesterol. This impedes its natural function and begins many other distortions in the body as it attempts to maintain healthy levels. To me it is a crime against our own bodies to introduce a drug into the system that prohibits the body doing what it naturally needs to do.

I have researched this for myself and come to the conclusion that having high cholesterol is not a bad thing. It is still important, of course, to be eating organic meats as much as possible, take certain nutrients, and get the right fats in your body. You also need to stay away from the “processed” foods and sugars.

We do this by eating organic meats or “Greenwise” meat from Publix and taking our formulas from Ask Insider Doctors. These formulas provide all the nutrients and right oils to keep our bodies functioning right.

I’m Kimberly and I promote alternative and natural health options. The opinions given on The Natural Road website are just that: My Opinions. But they are based upon sources about which you should become familiar. I’ll show you how. As this site develops I hope you enjoy it, find useful and even vital tips, and, of course, keep coming back.

Ken and I have been interested in our natural health for about 3 years now. We went along like most people, thinking we were doing okay with our health. We generally eat well and did get some exercise in. At least we thought we did. Then we bought Kevin Trudeau’s book “Natural Cures”. That was a wake up call.

My husband read the book first and then I did. We did make a lot of changes that the book suggested. We started eating organic and using “organic” products. We also looked and tried different “vitamins”. Most were expensive and we weren’t sure how well they were helping us.

Then my husband came across Advanced Scientific Health. Well, we gave ASH a try and joined. We have been on ASH products for 3 years now and counting. I have to say these products work. This is no BS. Many people have gotten wins off these products as we have. Plus they are not expensive. So I have started this website to share the science behind ASH.

You also can track me on Twitter. Along with improving our health the natural way, my husband and I live in a aviation community and are both pilots. We enjoy traveling and running an engineering & construction business.
