When I began exploring ways to minimize inflammation, I did what many people do; I hit the Internet. Google became my best friend. It didn’t take long to realize the answer to my dilemma was a whole food, plant-based diet.

What I quickly discovered was the plethora of books, videos, blog posts and interviews on the topic. What I also discovered in fast order, were those who had been around the plant-based playground for decades.

Names that came up over and over were Dr. Collin Campbell, Dr. Michael Gregor, Dr. Joel Fuhrman, Dr. Neal Barnard and Rip Esselstyn, Rich Roll and Dr. Caldwell B. Esselstyn.

Each had their own perspective, experience and point of view. Yet, each had the same goal in mind; to educate as many people as possible as to the dangers of the S.A.D. (Standard American Diet) and the benefits of a whole food, plant-based diet.

Hit the Amazon Buy Button

Eager to learn as much as I could about the eating protocol that seemed almost too good to be true, I placed an order with Amazon. Among the first books I ordered were Finding Ultra by Rich Roll, Eat to Live by Dr. Joel Fuhrman, and How Not To Die by Dr. Michael Gregor.

While waiting for my books to arrive, I consumed hours upon hours of YouTube Videos. Within the first thirty days of going plant based, I found myself wanting to read, see and listen to anything I could get my hands on.

The day my books arrived, I stopped what I was doing to dig into Eat To Live.

It didn’t take but a few chapters of Dr. Fuhrman’s book to realize a plant-based diet was likely the answer to staying as healthy as possible for as long as possible. All the other books confirmed the same thing.

My #1 Recommendation

When someone asks what books I recommended, the first one I suggest they start with is Eat to Live. It’s chock full of great information, case studies, medical insights you likely won’t find from most doctors and plenty of research.

I read the book from cover to cover in less than two days. And it’s not a short book, but it was fascinating to read how quickly I could experience a change in the way I look and feel by giving up animal and dairy products.

The author promised that if someone gives up all meat, dairy, added salt, oil and processed sugar, the benefits will far outweigh the sacrifice.

It’s All About Change

This book is about change. It is about making a life changing decision that can literally save lives.

Dr. Furhman states over and over that animal products are bad for the human body, toxic to the liver, great for cancer and fat, bad for humans.

Although other experts do talk about compassion to animals through a plant-based diet, this is not the position Dr. Fuhrman takes. It’s not that he doesn’t care about animals, but his focus is on the healthy human-side of the issue.

Dr. Fuhrman addresses the issue, many times over, how unhealthy animal products are due to the way they are farmed, which is a different topic than compassion to animals.Beginners Guide to Plant Based Eating

Thankfully, my focus is about health, animal compassion and the impact eating a plant-based diet can have on the planet.

For anyone interested in the health benefits, Eat to Live is a must have in your own personal library. I do recommend ordering a physical copy in order that you have it close by and it remains top of the mind.

Ready to check this out? Then definitely get a copy of Dr. Fuhrman’s book AND get the Beginner’s Guide to Plant Based Eating. I wrote this guide for those who are brand new to this way of eating, I chronicle my own journey during the first three months of make the change.
