For 30 years stress has been one of the nation’s biggest health problems with 75% of the general population suffer from stress at least once a fortnight – a cause for high blood pressure, heart disease, strokes and even a trigger for suicide. What was the ‘epidemic of the 80’s is now the pandemic of the 21st Century and named as ‘America’s #1 Health Problem’– affecting just about anyone.

In desperate efforts, scientists have started inducing rats with a hormone as an attempt to understand human stress levels between males and females. All while psychiatrists continue to blame it on ‘chemical imbalances in the brain,’ of course having no scientific basis. Whether it’s a playful stress ball or a mind-bending psychotropic drug the source of stress is still widely un-known.

There are many across America who have found success at weekend seminars using the self-help book Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health. It contains the description of how painful incidents are recorded below one’s conscious level in what is called the Reactive Mind – which later affects the person without him knowing it.

While visiting his mother in San Francisco from the South Pacific Island of Noumea in New Caledonia, Patrick O’Flynn attended a weekend seminar using the techniques in Dianetics and found relief from stress: “After a day of using Dianetics techniques, I have understood what happened at my birth and why I suffered nightmares as a kid. I do feel a relief after going back to my birth. I also feel resolved to change my work life and not to fall into the daily lethal stress traps that I have lived through.”

Dianetics did not only assist Patrick in overcoming stress it also accounted for other events of sadness and physical injury, as he put it, “the seminar ended with enlightenment and delight -- going back to my birth, has been a very emotional and moving experience for me. It has only amplified the enormous love that I have for my family and erased the initial pain, discomfort, fear and shock of birth. All the other sadness and physical injury that I have experienced seemed to have vanished, the violence and hate that has filled my mind now holds far less power on me and does not interfere with my thoughts.”

Written by L. Ron Hubbard and released on May 9th, 1950 -- Dianetics answers fundamental questions of living: “How can I handle stress, anxiety and unhappiness?” “Why do I do things I can’t explain?” “How can I repair relationships with others?” and provides more than just a “mere explanation” of common problems, but also simple techniques to handle the single source of one’s fears, anxieties and stresses.
