Low Fat Cherry Turkey Burgers On Portobella Buns With Baked French Fries

Using turkey instead of beef in these burgers reduces the amount of fat and calories in these burgers and using Portobella Mushrooms as buns simply adds to the taste while reducing the calories even more. And what would would a good burger be without a helping of french fries? Adding these baked french fries to your meal will allow you to enjoy that complete burger experience while still allowing you to enjoy a low fat meal.

Low Fat Cherry Recipe:

Ingredients

1/2 pound lean turkey burger

1/4 cup sweet onion diced

1/2 cup dried cherries diced

1/4 cup diced green peppers

Pepper to taste

2 lettuce leafs

2 slices of tomato (optional)

4 portobella mushroom caps- stems removed

1 large raw potato

cooking spay

1 Tablespoon Olive oil

Choice of seasonings

Low Fat Cherry Recipe:

Directions:

Preheat Oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit

In a mixing bowl place ground beef, sweet onions, dried cherries, and green peppers and mix all together and then form into 2 patties for grilling.

Wash and slice potatoes into strips 1/4 to 1/2 inch wide and place in small bowl of water to prevent oxidation. In a mixing bowl place olive oil and pepper (also salt if desired) dry potatoes and toss in olive oil and seasonings.

Spray the bottoms of two small baking pans with cooking spray. In one pan place the portobella mushrooms grilling side up, spritz with olive oil (or use a small pastry brush) Season with desired seasonings. In the other baking pan place the potato slices and then put the potato slices in the oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10 minutes. Then flip fries over and continue cooking for another 12 minutes. When fries are flipped place mushrooms into the oven to bake and start grilling your burgers for about 6 minutes on each side or until done.

Place: One portobella mushroom cap on each of two plates, place lettuce on top then turkey burger, add tomato and condiments if you choose. And place the other portobella cap on top of the cherry burgers to complete the bun. Divide the fries between the two plates and enjoy.
