The most important thing for a human being to have is self-esteem. Without it, none of your endeavors in life would be as successful as they should, and you’ll always feel like something is missing. This is even more so for men because society demands a certain standard and imposes specific criteria that any man shouldn’t stray away from. Men are expected to carry themselves in a certain way and achieve things they might not even want to achieve. This takes a toll much of the time on a person’s self-esteem, and failure can be devastating to most.

Whatever problem men faced with their very own self-esteem 50 years ago, they have now doubled thanks to the advent of social media. Seeing others do things you couldn’t, and often getting where you wanted to but couldn’t, is very bad for a man’s self-esteem. This is why you need to take measures to boost your self-esteem because at the end of the day how you feel about yourself matters the most.

These are some of those measures.

Believe in yourself

Self-esteem is defined as knowing one’s value and appreciating that. This could never happen until you start having confidence in yourself and in your abilities, and it’s the only way you’ll start to see your true worth. Everybody suffers setbacks and failures at some point or another in their lifetime. You shouldn’t let that affect your self-esteem, because it’s not about failing; it’s about getting back up on your feet. You have to be able to respect and love yourself so that you could rebuild what you lost, and keep going no matter how hard you get hit.

Improve

Many of the times the problem men face with their self-esteem is not being able to love themselves. It happens. Sometimes you look into a mirror and you don’t like what’s looking back at you. Be it weight problems, physical appearance, current financial status, or whatever, there are plenty of reasons to hate yourself. But you need to stay away from these reasons, because everybody has got some of those, and start working on fixing what you don’t like. SLE permanent enlargement surgeries are an option many men resort to in order to feel better about themselves and their bodies, and there’s no shame in that.

Are you unhappy about your weight? Start working out and eating better. The difference between a man with high self-esteem and another with lower one is the fact that the former doesn’t dwell on what they dislike about themselves; they work on fixing it. Nobody is perfect and each of us can definitely stand to improve in one area or another. The question is, are you willing to improve so you could have a higher self-esteem or are you going to keep pointlessly hating on yourself?

The good versus the bad

This might come as a shocker to some, and many wouldn’t even consider doing something like this. But writing down your assets and your pros on a piece of paper can do wonders to your self-esteem. The idea might seem nonsensical, but what have you got to lose? You can’t love yourself if you don’t have enough reasons to. Writing down what you think makes you a good person on a piece of paper can do just that. You’ll find that there are plenty of good things about yourself that you never thought of or even considered, but using a pen and paper goes a long way into bringing out things you didn’t even know exist.

If you found the above approach a silly one, this was only approach A. Approach B entails you looking yourself in the mirror and actually saying some of those positive things about yourself to your own face. Again, it will seem absurd, but what have you got to lose? Though most men won’t acknowledge it, many dislike what they see looking back at them when looking in a mirror. And while positive endorsement from people is something we all need, it has to come from you first, because your opinion about your own self is that first step towards having a better self-esteem.

Pamper yourself

Another thing many men don’t acknowledge is the importance of pampering oneself. It’s a misconception that men can’t have beauty days and spoil themselves, and in fact you’ll find that most confident men do just that. Taking care of your skin and body is not something to be ashamed of; it’s something that you should do and that would make you feel much better about yourself. Whether it’s grooming, skin care, hair routines, or just a fun day at the spa, a man deserves to be pampered and spoiled, because it will do much good to your mindset. Spend money on the little things that make you feel like you’re worth the effort. Buy creams and conditioners and grooming kits. They’ll make you feel good about yourself.

Embrace your faults

No one is perfect, and if you accept that, no one can shake your self-esteem. You have faults and imperfections, and the sooner you embrace those, the better your self-esteem and entire life will be. If you are well aware of your shortcomings, and you accept them as part of who you are as a person, then no one can use them against you. Use your faults for your own benefit and make them a part of your armor. Knowing exactly what you’re good and what you’re bad at means that no failure or mishap can affect your self-esteem.

You deserve to be happy

It’s not easy being a man, and sometimes the burden can get a bit much. But you need to understand that you deserve happiness, and it’s something that will do wonders for your self-esteem. Have complete faith that you are worthy of happiness, because when that happens you’ll start pursuing the things that make you happy and ignoring those that don’t. You’d be surprised how much happiness can make a difference in your self-esteem and self-appreciation, because every man deserves to get there at a point in their lives.
