Favorite Quotes & Thoughts from Dore Frances,MA
  • We think every human being can have, do, or be anything they can imagine.

“When I first met Dore, she was touring several programs in Utah.  Dore asked me if I was familiar with a type of therapy not well known by most professionals.  We did some research as she visited and found the model was in vogue in work with youth who may have some learning deficits.  Dore was very quick to understand how such a model might be applied and could list a variety of settings where that particular model could improve services.  Since that time I have noted this same intense curiosity and eagerness from Dore every time she explores ways to effectively support families in treatment settings.  Certainly, there is no chance of any grass growing on her busy streets! " ~ Kimball DeLaMare LCSW ~ Founding President of the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP)

Getting Started With Dore Frances,MA

Educational consultants offer a variety of services, ranging from assisting students in choosing an appropriate college-prep school, to special needs consulting to family, parent and teen coaching. Horizon Family Solutions is an educational consulting, child rights advocacyand family / parent coaching company that serves clients locally, nationally and internationally. We also assist adults who may be struggling with alcohol and drug addiction and need confidential assistance and support. We have been assisting children, adolescents, young adults and their families since 1990.

During these years, I have assisted hundreds of clients with a broad spectrum of issues. These issues have ranged from learning differences, such as attention (ADHD), language delays and memory disorders, to emotional and behavioral difficulties, such as defiance at home or inappropriate choices at school.

My intention and passion in working with you is success for your student. I assess with care and thoroughness their challenges, goals and talents. I assist families in creating a plan for appropriate educational programs and treatment interventions, guiding them in identifying and considering the many factors that make up a successful plan. In building the plan, I incorporate input from multiple sources including family members, professionals with whom the student has worked, school counselors and teachers and the student, when appropriate. I also review any prior assessments, school records and other pertinent data. My primary focus and specialty is assisting the family in crisis and the special needs child, as well as the adolescent and young adult who needs a therapeutic and/or wilderness adventure treatment setting.

Such programs and schools empower students to make healthy choices, healthy decisions and deal effectively with issues of all types such as substance abuse including binge drinking and prescription drug addiction, depression, eating disorders, gambling, inappropriate sexual behavior, oppositional behavior, poor peer relations, high risk taking behavior, school failure, self-esteem challenges, self mutilation, and cell phone, Internet and video game addiction. I also provide family, parent and teen coaching. I do not accept any program or school compensation or any type of referral fees for my assistance with your student, thereby maintaining the integrity of my relationship with each family I serve. I maintain contact with families and students from the beginning of the process until the every end. I also maintain contact with the program or school throughout the term of your child’s placement. In doing so I help ensure that your student’s academic and emotional goals are met.

I work passionately with each family to ensure that we all strive for a long-term positive outcome.
