My first career as a teacher covered 15 years. My second career as a consultant, speaker and psychotherapist (LMFT), working with several physicians within a medical family practice, spanned 30 years. I began training for my third career as a Life Coach in the Spring of 1997 and completed this training in 1999.
In January of 1999, I became ill with an autoimmune disease in the arthritis family. Because this was so debilitating I was no longer able to work. I loved my work as a psychotherapist, my life and training for my next career. However, when I became ill, it all came to an abrupt end.
Because I was totally overwhelmed, not only by illness, but also because I was caring for my elderly mother who was living with me at the time, I decided to do two things to help myself. I wrote every day and I hired a Life Coach. Writing helped me to deal with my frustrations, sadness and anger. While my coach understood my feelings, she helped me to focus on the changes and challenges that threatened to overwhelm me. We worked in a partnership that helped me to regain my self-confidence and my ability to meet my goals.
Today, I continue to live with chronic illness and specialize in coaching men and women at midlife, particularly those living with chronic health conditions and family caregivers who are "sandwiched" between their families and their aging parents. I know what it's takes to live with a chronic health condition, and to be a family caregiver. I also know that coaching will make a difference in the quality of your life. I would be honored to partner with you on your journey and help you to live to the very best of your ability!
